I can’t believe that it has almost been two weeks already! Last Friday we visited Alcázar, the castle here in Segovia. It was amazing to learn about the history of the building and of the town.
Alcázar was home to Ferdinand and Isabella, “Los Reyes Católicos”, whose marriage created the autonomous region of Castilla y León.
Christopher Columbus went to Alcázar to ask Ferdinand and Isabella for funding for his voyage to America.
Saint Dominic (founder of the Dominican order) went to Alcázar to seek funding for a monastery, which was built here in Segovia and now serves as a campus for IE University, where I am studying this semester!
It was fun to get a taste of how the royals of the past lived, and to climb the castle’s tower which provided some amazing views of the city.
